Locomotives


Preowned Locomotives 
For private rail freight and short line operators as well as for industrial sidings preowned locomotives are a very attractive alternative to brand new locomotives which have become very expensive over the last decades. More recently also track construction and maintenance contractors have been facing the challenge to organize construction site logistics themselves and are thus forced to move work trains on site as well as to carry construction materials such as ballast, gravel, sand, sleepers and rails themselves or to get spoil materials away from sites to depositing areas, all this by their own rolling stock. And work sites become more complex while time on site and possessions to do the work become tighter. This requires more powerful and very reliable locomotives to make sure that the material will flow as planned.
For all these parties SK Rail’s preowned locos are the competitive answer in order to get very good value for money. Many of our locomotives have been repowered with state of the art modern engines such as Caterpillar, MTU and IVECO – FMT and provide similar efficiency as brand new locos. At the same time they are more robust as they feature much less electronics than newly built ones. Apart from low running cost reliability is of the essence, particularly in the construction and rail freight business.

Second Hand Wagons




We supply used wagons focusing on contractors’ needs for work site logistics in track construction and maintenance. Thus our range of wagons comprises:

2-axle ballast hopper wagons type Fcs with 4 independent chutes for ballasting the center of the track (fourfoot) as well as the track shoulders. Foldable extensions underneath the chutes allow to reach the far end of the shoulders. Loading capacity at 20 t axle load is 25 t payload.

4 –axle bogie type ballast hopper wagons type Faccs and Faccpp also featuring 4 independently controllable chutes to the center and the sides of the track. Chute controls are by lever or handwheel and permit to slow down, to stop and to restart the flow of ballast thanks to the special design of the shoot doors. This feature also applies to the 2-axle ballast hopper wagons as above, type Fcs.

2-axle bogie type tipping wagons type Fns featuring a material hopper with a capacity of 20 m³, hoppers are fitted with hydraulic tipping system to either side of the track in order to control material flow and speed

4-axle bogie type tipping wagons type Eakkmos, featuring 2 material hoppers with a capacity of 20 m³ each, hoppers are fitted with pneumatic tipping system with air supply from the locos main air pipe, thus not requiring an individual power supply such as the hydraulic system of the Fns wagons above. However, pneumatically operated tippers cannot control material flow and speed and are thus not useful for ballasting of the adjacent track or building of a new formation.

P&T MFS wagons featuring full width bottom conveyors thus providing a very high material conveyance capacity and through loading capability. MFS-D wagons are fitted with turning end conveyors allowing to discharge material to the sides, e.g. pits or dirt wagons on the adjacent track. Standard MFS wagons without the designation D feature fixed end conveyors for through loading into the next MFS wagon inline.

4-axle bogie type flat wagons for transport of rails, sleepers and work modules type Res, 58 t payload at 20 t axle load

4-axle bogie type sleeper wagons for transport in track renewal or track laying trains, wagons will be custom made to your requirements and gantry gauge
